A PICTURE'S WORTH...

Gucci Ad Campaign A/W 03, Dewi Driegen shot by Mario Testino

Recently, Dylan sat (or shall I say, didn't sit) for a series of photographs taken at his organized play group.  The photos were taken over a series of days both indoors and out and we recently were emailed the link online to proof all the photos and choose those we would like to orderThe pictures were all adorable, but what was most amazing were the little personality traits that the camera captures while they are in motion.
I started thinking about portraiture and other artistic mediums, like painting.  My mind  wandered to if I could have any artist alive paint Dylan at this very active moment in his life, who would I commission?

Picasso? (Why not, right?)

O.K., so maybe someone living...Francesco Clemente?

I first fell in love with his work, used by the character, Finn, played by Ethan Hawke, in the 1998 movie of Great Expectations.

maybe Linda Mason...after seeing the cute children's portrait she did for the Novogratz Family re-do of the children's rooms in a gorgeous Brooklyn Brownstone...

Perhaps lesser-known artist, Ryan Pickart, whose work I stumbled upon online...reminds me a bit of Gustav Klimt.

Odette, Ryan Pickart

I also quite like these by artist and blogger, Sabrina Cabala, of An Artful Nature.

Another interesting choice would be Nikki Rosato, who crafts portraits out of old maps...

Now, perhaps as Dyl moves into high school, creating something cheeky by these favorite photographers would also be especially memorable...

Paul Costello:

Many of you may know his work from ad campaigns and publications like (R.I.P., sniff, sniff) Domino Magazine.  But check out his personal blog, it's amazing, too!
