So,
in true D.C. fashion, a few days ago, I took Dyl down to see the "pink trees", the annual
blooming of the Cherry Blossoms around the Tidal Basin. They always hit
peak viewing right around Dyl's Birthday, and this year they came late.
Despite the crowds of tourists, fluke 90 degree temperatures, a monumental meltdown and
horrific traffic, they did not disappoint.
We recently drove by and Dyl seemed a perplexed. His pink trees had largely disappeared, replaced by lush green ones. I wonder if he thinks it was simply a dream...oh, to be in the mind of a two-year old.
DO: The National Cherry Blossom Festival is again promoting a letter of greetings and support for our troops abroad. I think it's a terrific idea and you can pick up a Cherry Blossom postcard at festival booths at Union Station or down by the Tidal Basin. More information about the program is HERE.
